Kirsten Møller Nielsen is a Danish artist and designer
In her work as an artist - she focuses on the contrasts in the pieces.
The pieces are made with a fragility - in spite of their robustness, a transparency - and yet play with light and shadows.
The tactility is important, an attempt to give the viewer a sense of how the piece feels, before you touch it.
The pieces presented here have the knot as a returning symbol
- the fortune paper we see at Japanese temples "O-mikuji"
- a "remember-knot" which we here in Denmark call "huske-knude"
- a symbol "tying the knot" in marriage
- eternity and many more...
The pieces also have a sense of meditation and endless repetition...
The material varies; bamboo - vellum - Japanese paper (awagami) - seaweed - silver etc.
