Rolf Maas

Rolf Maas (NL 1970): “Making graphics is a way for me to deal with the world around me and what I see in it. I can feel very happy when I see sunlight on a wall making shapes that change every second. How the pattern of a sidewalk is put together. How the night can embrace me and make me feel small and everything else around me feels big. It's great to convert moments like this into images. Graphics are a very physical way of creating images. You have to make something first before you can start printing, so very indirectly. Unlike painting, which is direct; you see it immediately. Every aspect of the entire process influences that final image. In that respect it has a lot of craftsmanship in it. There is a lot that can go wrong during this whole process, but also a lot to discover when it does! New ideas are born this way! Materials you work in, tools for processing, paper, ink, tools for rolling out ink, the press, the printing force. Everything influences the final image. But of course also me, my mood and the physical strength with which everything has to be done means that I am also every print!”

Michiel Deylius

Michiel Deylius (NL 1956): “I have been working as an independent sculptor/letter cutter/designer in stone since 2002. I gradually specialized in carving letters and especially in designing letters and text in stone. This can be found in abstract geometric objects, often based on the design of abstracted letters (including a self-designed alphabet Fragmentum). I also use text and design to express myself on social themes, such as the opinion carousel on social media, communication and the increasing need for fact-checking.”
