Artist Statement

Using a multidisciplinary approach, Sue’s visual art practice primarily examines place and space in a process based art practice.

My current work is part of an ongoing investigation into the concept of liminal space (transformation and the in-between) through the lens of personal mythologies, postinternet and postdigital concerns, and Instruction Based art.

At the present time, I am working on a series of paintings and digital works, that explore ideas relating to liminal space through the transformation of existing landscape paintings. Postdigital strategies are used as a metaphor for the permanent alteration and ultimate transformation of the landscape and our society as we know it.

Australian based Sue Beyer recently completed an MFA (research) at the VCA in Melbourne, supported through an Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship. In 2018 Sue was awarded the National Gallery of Victoria Women’s Association Award for the work created as part of her candidature.

Beyer has held solo exhibitions in Brisbane and Melbourne, and participated in group shows in Australia, Singapore and the United States. Sue has been a finalist in multiple prizes, and was the winner of the Emerging artist category in the Stanthorpe Art Prize in 2014. Her work is part of numerous corporate and public collections including Artbank, an Australian Government art collection.

Sue is represented by Studio Gallery Group in Melbourne, Australia and Bos Fine Art in The Netherlands.
